The account executive booked a call on Google Calendar. The sequence still sent bump two the next morning.
The contact now has a hold and a chase email. That is two systems that do not share a stop rule.
Unenroll the sequence and the marketing workflow on the booking. Do not wait for a reply.
Turn on meeting unenroll in the sequence. Prefer a HubSpot meetings link in the step. Add a workflow on Meeting booked for Calendar paths the sequence will miss.
Sequences stop upcoming steps, not the email already sent
HubSpot's sequence unenroll help is explicit. Unenrolling does not recall mail that already went out. It only cancels scheduled steps still in the queue.
If bump one already sent, the damage is done. The fix is to stop bump two. Re-enrolling later sends those steps as new emails, so do not drop them back at step one after the call is booked.
A welcome marketing dump is a different canvas, covered in how to fix welcome sequences that dump six emails in three days. This post is sales sequences and workflows that keep chasing after a meeting exists.
The meeting switch and whose calendar
By default, a sequence unenrolls when the contact books through a meetings link in a sequence email, even if that link is not the enroll user's link. That is the path that works without extra workflow logic.
Meetings booked on the contact record or an integrated Google Calendar unenroll only if the person they booked with is the same user who enrolled them in the sequence. An SDR enrolls, an account executive books on Calendar, and the sequence keeps going. That is HubSpot's rule, not a glitch.
The logged meeting must also be associated with the contact. A meeting sitting only on the company or the deal will not unenroll. HubSpot counts meetings logged while the contact is enrolled, even if the meeting time is in the past.
The Automate tab can also unenroll all contacts at the same company when one person books. Use that when one buyer books and three colleagues should not keep getting the chase. Leave it on The contact when only the booked person should drop.
The Automate tab can turn When a contact books a meeting off. If someone disabled it to keep chasing after a no-show, every successful book will still get the rest of the pack. Turn it back on for live outbound sequences.
Marketing workflows ignore sequence settings
Send email in a contact workflow does not read the sequence meeting switch. A nurture that enrolled on form submit will keep sending after the sales calendar hold. Sequence unenroll and workflow unenroll are separate stops.
Owner assignment is a different leak, covered in lead routing rules that assign enterprise deals to a catch-all queue. A booked call with the wrong owner still needs the follow-up stop, or the new owner inherits the chase.
HubSpot's event enrollment help includes Meeting booked for the HubSpot meetings tool and for logged meetings from the CRM record. It also includes Contact booked a meeting through a sequence. Use those events to unenroll or to hit a workflow goal.
Book on a meetings link, or match the enroll user
Put a HubSpot meetings link in the sequence step that asks for time. Raw calendar.google.com URLs do not get the sequence-email meetings-link unenroll. The Calendar integration path then depends on the same-user rule above.
If the team books from a shared inbox or a manager's calendar, the enroll user and the booker will not match. Either enroll as the user who will take the call, or add the workflow safety net. Do not assume Google Calendar sync equals sequence stop.
Contacts can only be in one sequence at a time. Unenroll from sequence in a workflow drops them from whatever sequence they are in, including private ones. That is the blunt stop when Calendar bookings keep leaking.
Add the workflow stop the sequence will miss
Build a contact workflow that enrolls on Meeting booked, then Unenroll from sequence. Sales Hub or Service Hub Enterprise is required for that action in the main workflows tool. Professional accounts can still use the sequence Automation tab for embedded unenroll workflows on that sequence.
On marketing workflows, set a goal or unenroll when the contact books a meeting. Suppression segments for people with a future meeting work if the property updates. Event enrollment is tighter than hoping a delay expires.
Until the workflow is live, unenroll from the contact record banner or the sequence Scheduled tab. That is the same stop as automation, applied by hand. It still will not pull back bump one.
Unenroll is not a reply. Out-of-office handling is a different sequence rule and will not save a booked-call leak. The stop for a hold is meeting unenroll, plus the workflow for Calendar mismatches.
- Turn on When a contact books a meeting on the sequence Automate tab.
- Put a HubSpot meetings link in the sequence step, not a raw Calendar URL.
- If they book on Google Calendar, the booker must be the user who enrolled them.
- Associate the logged meeting with the contact, not only the company or deal.
- Add a Meeting booked workflow that Unenrolls from sequence for Calendar misses.
- Unenroll or goal-stop marketing Send email workflows on the same meeting event.

I write from work I have done on real sites. Search products change, and a step that was right when I published can go stale. I can also be wrong about the method.
If you disagree with the approach, the facts, or the outcome, I want the detail. Tell me what is off, what you would do instead, and where you saw it. I use that to correct the post so the next reader is not stuck.
