Fix low engagement on company page announcements

A press-release dump on the company Page is not an announcement people can react to. Check comments and audience, rewrite the first line for the feed, and use Notify employees within LinkedIn’s daily cap.

The company announcement went out at 9 am. By late afternoon it has two reactions, both from people who already work there.

The body is a press release pasted into the share box. Comments may be off. The audience may be Targeted instead of Anyone.

Fix the post settings and the first line before buying a boost. This is organic Page formatting, not Campaign Manager.

Leave comments on and keep the post on Anyone. Write a first line a follower would expand, then use Notify employees on one important post per admin per day.

Check comments and audience before rewriting copy

LinkedIn's Page posting help lets super and content admins set Comment Control to Anyone or No One. No One means the announcement cannot collect comments. Reactions may still appear, but there is no thread to keep the post alive.

Those settings can be edited on an existing Page post. Open the announcement and turn comments back on before assuming the topic is boring. A closed comments box is a formatting choice, not a market verdict.

The same composer sets privacy to Anyone or Targeted Audience. Anyone is the default. Targeted posts are only actively shown to followers who match filters such as industry, seniority, geography, or language.

People outside that slice can still find the post if someone shares it. They will not see it in the ordinary feed. LinkedIn also requires a targeted post to hit at least 300 Page followers, and it will not send Employee Notifications on a targeted post.

If the announcement was meant for every follower, Targeted is the bug. Narrow it only when the news is truly local or role-specific, then accept that most of the Page will not see it.

Rewrite company Page announcements for the feed

A feed post is not a newswire file. For immediate release, a dateline, and an About the company boilerplate are signals to skip. The first line has to stand on its own in the scroll.

State the news a customer or partner would reply to. Then add context. The media email and the PDF can live on the site, not as the only sentence in the share box.

A screenshot of letterhead is not an image. On a phone it is unreadably small. Use a photo of the product, the people, or a short native document of one page, not a scan of the release.

A URL with no surrounding text is a preview card. Write the claim in native copy so the post still makes sense if the card fails. Tag members or other Pages only when they are in the story, not as a mention blast.

Content sharing can import a blog or RSS feed onto the Page. That convenience often publishes the same headline dump that already died on the site. Import is not a rewrite.

Use employee notifications within LinkedIn's limits

LinkedIn's Employee Notifications help is the official ping. Admins open Page posts, use More on the announcement, and choose Notify employees. A Slack screenshot asking everyone to like it is not the same control, and it trains people to ignore the next ping.

Employees here are members who listed the organization’s Page in Work Experience. Notifications can take hours. LinkedIn delivers them with a relevance model, so not every listed employee gets the alert.

An admin can notify employees once per day. The control is blocked when the company has zero or one associated employee, when the post is targeted, or when that post was already notified. People can opt out, which can change what Page analytics later show.

Use the daily notify on the one announcement that needs a human reply. Do not spend it on a logo refresh. After people click the preview, they can react, comment, or reshare from there.

Read discovery and engagement in Page analytics

Page posting analytics split organic discovery from organic engagement. Impressions and members reached sit under discovery. Click-through rate, reactions, comments, reposts, and engagement rate sit under engagement.

High impressions and almost no comments often means the post was seen and skipped, or comments were off. Low impressions with a Targeted Audience often means the slice was tiny. Do not treat both as the same failure.

Posts that used Notify employees are labeled Employees notified in analytics. Compare that label with a quiet week of press dumps.

LinkedIn's own Page tip is that Pages posting weekly grow faster than Pages posting monthly. Cadence still cannot save a comments-off paste.

Boosting the announcement is paid distribution. It does not rewrite the first line. Pinning or featuring a dead post also does not create a thread.

Change the next announcement, not the algorithm story

Most quiet company Page announcements fail on settings and format, not on a secret ranking penalty. Walk the next post against the list below before blaming the feed.

  • Comment Control is No One, so nobody can start a thread on the announcement.
  • Privacy is Targeted Audience, so most followers never see the post in feed.
  • The first line is For immediate release, which nobody expands in the scroll.
  • A letterhead PDF screenshot is too small to read on a phone.
  • Notify employees was already used today, so this post cannot send another ping.
  • A URL-only post has no native text a reader can finish in-feed.

Native video clips from a webinar are a different job, covered in how to turn one webinar into a month of LinkedIn posts. An announcement is one news post that people can finish and reply to.

If this post is wrong, outdated, or you would take a different path

I write from work I have done on real sites. Search products change, and a step that was right when I published can go stale. I can also be wrong about the method.

If you disagree with the approach, the facts, or the outcome, I want the detail. Tell me what is off, what you would do instead, and where you saw it. I use that to correct the post so the next reader is not stuck.

This is not a comment thread. Use Contact me so the note is tied to this post and I can reply.

Questions I hear a lot

How do you differ from a traditional agency?

You work with me, not a rotating cast. I audit, build, and train your team. Agencies often keep control and charge forever to run what you could own in-house.

What size of marketing budget makes sense for your services?

Honestly, you need enough marketing activity to make fixes worthwhile. Still very early stage? A course or specialist vendor may fit better. Already running a full in-house team? You probably want a full-time CMO, not me part-time.

Do you work with specific industries?

Yes: logistics, real estate, pro services, SaaS, local trades. Places where online leads hit the P&L fast. I skip healthcare and finance; compliance slows the work down.

What does a typical engagement look like?

Engagements start with a two-week audit of analytics, ads, SEO, and CRM. Then a 90-day plan focused on attribution, conversion, and what's leaking spend. Hands-on build and training along the way; at the end your team runs it.

How do I know if I need a digital marketing consultant versus hiring full-time?

If revenue is growing faster than you can hire marketing, fractional support fills the gap. Interim CMO work until you're ready for a full-time exec. Hiring help is available when you get there.

What happens after the engagement ends?

You keep logins, docs, and dashboards. Engagements are built so your team can maintain and troubleshoot. Some clients book a quarterly check-in; that's optional.
